The company C. had to chose if it was preferable to use pre-terminated cables or to assemble connectors "on field" in an Ethernet installation. Typical links were 30m long, with one hundred links overall.

While the non-terminated cables appeared preferable, both in terms of installation time and costs (a pre-terminated cable is more expensive and often longer than needed), the choiche went to pre-terminated cables, because field-mounted connectors weren't reliable.
By using plastic fiber, it discovered that a work which required 10 working days could be carried out in less then 4 days:
