Double call for Luceat

POF Conference 2005 – Hong Kong

The 14th international conference on polymer optical fiber was held September 19-22 at the Sheraton Hotel in Hong Kong.

63 papers were presented covering both technology (fibres, sources, cabling, measurement, test) and applications (sensors, automotive, home networking) of plastic optical fiber.

At the exhibit, Luceat showcased its new products' previews:

- Ethernet 10/100 full duplex Media converter

- Hi-Fi Analogue audi converter

- CCTV analog video transmission system (now up to 300m)

Luceat also hosted a demo presented by "Istituto superiore Mario Boella" (ISMB), which showed a multilevel transmission at 50 Mb/s over 200m of step index POF.

ISMB also presented two articles at the conference:

* A Novel DC-Balancing Line Coding for Multilevel Transmission over POF
(R. Gaudino, D. Cárdenas, P. Spalla, A. Nespola, S. Abrate)

* Opto-pneumatic applications of PMMA-POF
(G. Belforte, G. Eula, M. Martinelli, T.Raparelli, V. Viktorov, G. Perrone, S. Abrate)

ECOC 2005 – Glasgow

The ECOC (European Conference on Optical Communications) is Europe's the most important conference on optical communications.

Every year researchers and managers like attend ECOC to find new suppliers and discover the last technological breakthroughs.

More than 400 exhibitors met at the SECC in Glasgow from 25th to 29th September.

ECOC has been the keyevent for Luceat as it gave the opportunity to present POF advantages compared with conventional optical solutions, and helped us understand our customers' requirements.

In Luceat stand, participants have had the possibility to experiment hands on POF's advantages in terms of robustness, ease of handling and reliability.
